Waveguide holograms. Base technology

Waveguide holography is a special type of Holography when the light the propagates in waveguides or optical fibers are used for recording or reconstruction of holograms. Waveguide holograms (WGH) have an extremely high efficiency (up to 90%), forms high resolution (more than 1000 line/mm) and wide-view (up to 180 deg) images and can provide unusual transformation of optical beams.
  • Waveguide holograms (WGH) have an extremely high efficiency (up to 90%)
  • forms high resolution image (more than 2000 line/mm )
  • wide-view (up to 180 deg) images
  • low noises - non-diffracted light exists only in the waveguide
  • True-color image recording
  • Compact design
  • Compatibility with integrated semiconductor technology

    Field of application:

  • Flat display and imaging systems (for cars or airplanes).
  • Car lighting fixtures
  • Compact virtual laser sights
  • Art holography
  • Individual displays: "Private eye" and "Virtual Reality displays"
  • LCD with enhanced brightness
  • Optical processing

    Background

Investigation in waveguide holography in the laboratory was started out in 1981. Several schemes of optical correlation systems, storage devices, optical neural networks and optical communications have been experimentally investigated. 3 US patents and 2 Russian patents was received and 2 invention is under examine now.
